Johnny Month 5 - The month of love!

At the end of the month, we went to the Dr. to check on Johnny's red bum**, so we got some new stats to share.

Stats:
17lbs 13 oz = weight
2' 2.5" = height
17.13" = head circumference
**His red bum was fine. Just a bit active with his poops.

Let's get started..........

What a fun month!! I think I may say that about all of them, but we did so much in Feburary.

The month started with a roadtrip to Yakima for Sarah's babyshower. This was Johnny's first road trip, first over nighter and first baby shower (he was the only guy invited). He ofcourse was a big hit and everyone loved him. His smile is contagious and I love showing him off. It takes just over 2 1/2 hours to get from Seattle to Yakima. Johnny was a trooper and slept 2 hours on the way there and 2 hours on the way home.

All dressed up for the baby shower

Sunday was Superbowl and Johnny was once again excited to have his Seahawks outfit on. He was just a bit upset when he realized the hawks weren't actually playing.

The following weekend, we had Valentine's Day at the zoo (which is now a Fontaine tradition) and Braydon's 1st birthday party.

Since Valentine's was on a weekday, they schedule the Valentine's celebration for the animals on Saturday. It's the best! You get to see so many of the animals, since they tell you when they are going to feed them their Valentine. I think the wolves and gorillas were our favorite. We even got a short video to show the gorillas going after their treats.

After the zoo on the same day, we headed over to Silverdale where Becky and Dustin were hosting a pizza party for Braydon's 1st birthday. Johnny had a few firsts on this day. His first ferry ride to his first friend's birthday party.

On Sunday, we took Johnny to church for the first time at St. James Catheral on Capital Hill. Our good friend Pedro goes to this church and after, he treated us to brunch at the Fairmont Hotel. Johnny fell asleep for half the service and once he woke up, he was all smiles for everyone to see. He really seemed to enjoy the sermon and the choir.

Brunch was amazing too and Johnny had his first celebrity sitting. Pedro took Johnny to the lobby to walk around, so Matt and I could enjoy our brunch and he comes back to let us know that George Takei came over and greeted Johnny and him. Pedro asked if he was on TV and he said yes on Star Trek : http://www.georgetakei.com/bio.asp as Mr. Sulu. No photo of this moment, but a story he and Pedro will have to share.

That was a packed weekend.

Johnny's first Valentine's Day. Not only did he make the most beautiful Valentine for Matt and I with his feet, but he also rolled over from back to front for the nanny and later for me. He hasn't done it much since, but he did it.
Our nanny Ix-Chel is amazing and helped our little ones create the perfect keepsake. See Johnny showing it off below:

Pedro got him this bunny (named it Foo Foo) and he loves it

Auntie Nicole came to town and brought lobsters to share. While she was here, we ate lobsters, got the flu (not the most fun), Matt and Nicole went skiing and we all went to the Pike's Place Market. Johnny absolutely loves his auntie. We asked her and Ryan to be Johnny's God parents and they excepted. So I guess now, she is Auntie God Mother.

We miss you Nicole! We cant wait to show Johnny Maine in July!

Johnny had a couple more firsts this month. He went on the swing at the park and has started to really enjoy his door jumper at home.

We also took Johnny to his first beer tasting at the new local brewery that is now walking distance from our house. It will definitely be a Fontaine favorite.

Looks like he passed out from all the yummy samples
What is Johnny doing:
  • He loves to be standing
  • Has found his big voice and yells with excitment as well as when he's a bit pissed. He talks all the time
  • Grabs for toys and switches between hands
  • Will drop a toy and kneel down to get it
  • We call him 'Johnny No Nap'. His naps are typically about 30 minutes each
  • Loves bathtime and will be starting swim lessons next month
  • Enjoys smiling at himself in the mirror
  • Sits and plays with toys in his highchair
  • Can almost hold his bottle himself
  • Starting to roll over more and be on his sides
  • Put pretty much everything in his mouth
  • Watches us eat. I think he is ready for solids next month
  • Loves to bounce and swing
  • Working on self soothing for naps and bedtime
Just to name a few......

And last but not least, I wanted to recognize us.

Drum Roll Please... as many of you may know Matt got Engineer of the Year for his company. He works so hard and puts in many hours. It's nice to know that he is recognized for a job well done AND, I also got some recogition at work and have a Senior title now. We will hopefully be able to teach Johnny the importance of hard work .......such a mom thing to say!

In March you will see our visit to Yakima to meet the new and wonderful Baby Finn Frenzel. St. Patty's day fun. Uncle Kyle's birthday. Announce the sex of baby Huffaker, Johnny's 6 month checkup AND MORE......

In April is Easter in Palm Springs. We have booked our flights and Grandma and Papa are ready to host us. Johnny will experience sun, pooltime, and golfing to name a few . We even plan to see some good friends while we're there. It's a much needed trip and we hope Johnny is a happy baby in the air, like he is on the ground:) We start solids this month and have a 6 month photo shoot scheduled. This will be the post to see!

I have been ending my recent posts with addtional cute photos of our favorite man. So here ya go.

Thanks for reading. Sorry for the delay in the post this month, but as you can tell, we had alot to share!

Seattle Snow + Turning 4 Months Old = Johnny in January

Johnny had his 4 month check up yesterday. We had another round of shots done and also an x-ray of his hips**. He had the x-ray done first and Dad went in with him. I could hear him cry a bit, but he did great. While we waited for shots next, he fell asleep in Daddy's arms. He was a bit surprised when he awoke and saw that we were still there and then the shots. He took um like a champ again and only cried for a minute. We got him home to play with the nanny and other babies and he is doing amazing!

Stats:
16 lb 2 oz (75.15% percentile for weight)
26.58 inches (94.17% percentile for height) - they can't say for sure, but they estimate he could be 6'4"
17.01 inches head circumference (75.57% percentile for head)
**And the hips check out as being normal

Here we go.....

The highlight of January was the Seattle Snow Storm of 2012 !!! We got about 5 inches at our house and decided to work from home the whole week. The nanny got a few snow days as well:) The city pretty much shuts down when we get any snow. It's a fun time!  We took Johnny out in it everyday and let him see what this crazy white stuff was all about. He seemed to really like it. We even put him on the cold ground to attempt an infant Johnny style snow angel. We got great memories from our first snow together at home and some pics to remember it by.

Watching the snow come down with Dad

Loved his first snowman (bonus, had a pinecone mohawk)

Dad's favorite photo. He thought something was really funny!
All bundled up for another snow walk
Walks ended up at Starbucks

Fell asleep during this snow walk
One walk we stopped by to see Artcher... oh and Andy and Mandy
Artcher and Johnny already buddies.
Johnny had a great sleeping month as well. He started off January with 7-9 hour straight stretches of sleep. It was the best thing ever.... BUT then it started to go back to about a 5 hour stretch and I'm really hungry Mom. We are working on our bedtime routine and making sure he is getting all the food he needs. We plan on starting him on rice cereal closer to 6 months. The Dr. didnt want us to start this too early. I hope to be able to pump and have enough milk, but it seems that he eats more then I can provide at times. I guess Europe has it right when the Mom gets a year off in order to do the Mom thing....... I will and can do it though. I love my job and my family. I can make it all work!

January was also the first month that I went back to work fulltime and our new nanny Ix-Chel started. We get the pleasure of having her and her little girl Amelie with us everyday. Since we are part of a nanny share, the first month was at our house. We have baby things everywhere and I like it! I'm so lucky that I'm able to work from home and see how Ix-Chel and the babies all get along and play together. It will be harder next month when it's at Truman's house and I can only pop in once in awhile. It's still very special and wonderful to have this fun for Johnny! I have no worries that Johnny is in the best hands during the day. Ix-Chel is teaching them spanish and sign language. Lots of dancing and music. Tummy time, story time and nap time. See for yourself:

Ix-Chel's baby girl, Amelie (she's the best, a bit older and wiser)

Just Awesome! To many more months of Johnny smiling and learning with his new friends.

I bet you all thought I was only allowing Johnny to wear Coug stuff, but Dad's undergrad is celebrated as well. Probably wont allow Johnny to wear Dad's post graduate colors (huck the fuskies- I think I can say that on here), but Clarkson hockey will definitely be a part of our life too. GO GOLDEN KNIGHTS!

To end this post, I always like to share just a few more pics from the month.

Big boy outfit and sneakers

Cutest sneakers ever - Thanks Danielle and Manu

The best facial expressions - I wonder who he got those from!
Until next month.... Valentine's at the Zoo, Frenzel's baby shower in Yakima - first road trip and overnighter, Braydon's 1st Birthday, Ferry Ride, and Auntie Nicole is coming to visit from Maine and so much more..
